Configuration Example: EIGRP IPv6

Today I am going to tell you guys about the EIGRP IPv6 Configuration example. As you guys already knew that EIGRP is an open Standard protocol now. There are some queries from some users that we need to understand and want to have the configuration of the EIGRP in IPv6 between the two routers. We are going to talk about the same with the scenario below.

Now let's talk about the EIGRP IPv6 Configuration with the Scenario. If I talked about EIGRP, It is an enhanced distance vector protocol that relies on the Diffused Update Algorithm (DUAL) to calculate the shortest path to a destination within a network. EIGRP for IPv6 works in the same way as EIGRP IPv4 where they can be configured and managed separately.

Some of the restrictions on EIGRP IPv6 Configuration

The interfaces can be directly configured with EIGRP for IPv6, without the use of a global IPv6 address. There is no network statement in EIGRP for IPv6.

The router ID needs to be configured for an EIGRPv6 protocol instance before it can run.

EIGRP for IPv6 has a shutdown feature. Ensure that the routing process is in "no shut" mode in order to run the protocol.

Below is the Scenario showing the two routers running EIGRP protocol between them and lets configure both these routers one by one.
